News
A report from recruitment firm Jackson Physician Search and MGMA found that physician burnout is bad and getting worse. Nearly two-thirds of physicians surveyed (65%) said they are experiencing burnout, and 35% said their level of burnout has “significantly increased” in 2022. About half of physicians, or 51%, have considered leaving their current employer – in large because they don’t think administrators are doing enough to mitigate burnout or engage with physicians.
Researchers at MIT have found that de-identified patient data runs an extremely low risk of being re-identified in the event of a data breach. The research team found no instances of patient re-identification from publicly available health data over a five-year period – a timeframe in which nearly 100 million patient records were stolen. Study authors concluded that that the potential risk to patient privacy in sharing de-identified data is greatly outweighed by the gains for patients through medical research.

- HIE collaborative Civitas Networks for Health received a $1 million grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to implement and disseminate the Gravity Project’s SDOH standards. The 12-month project begins November 1.
- CCS has integrated Welldoc and ZeOmega into its diabetes chronic care management platform.
- Surgical care company LiveData has integrated PREFcards to incorporate surgical preferences into its PeriOp Manager product.
- Virtual complex care management platform Memora Health has partnered with Luma Health to streamline care journeys.
- VR-based digital therapeutic MyndVR is working with Oroi to incorporate cognitive exercises for seniors into its platform.
- Clinical trial data platform Seqster is collaborating with PatientsLikeMe on an Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (AATD) study.
- Cloud WAN provide Inseego collaborated with CyberReef to develop a mobile firewall for use in healthcare, education, and retail.
Products
- GoodRx released Provider Mode, a tool to help providers find low-cost options for the drugs they are about to prescribe. In addition, GoodRx announced an integration with Biogen to initiate specialty therapies.
- Credit card platform Mercantile launched its offering for small healthcare practices, developed in partnership with MGMA and other professional organizations.
Sales
- Rite Aid and Google Cloud announced a multi-year agreement that will include an enterprise data migration and transition of Rite Aid subsidiary Elixir’s PBM application to the cloud.
- Epic recognized RWJBarnabas Health for achieving a 43% increase in productivity during the latest phase of its Epic Together EHR implementation project.
- Cleveland’s soon-to-open MetroHealth Glick Center will implement pCare digital whiteboards and smart displays in patient rooms.
People
- The CHIME Board of Trustees appointed three new members: Daniel Barchi of New York-Presbyterian, Terri Couts of Guthrie Clinic, and Tressa Springmann of LifeBridge Health.
- Care coordination company Quantum Health named John Hallock as chief communications officer.
- Patient engagement company Get Well added Katherine Virkstis as vice president of clinical advisory services.
- RCM firm Conifer Health added Patti Peets and James Muir to its sales executive leadership team, covering the South-Central Texas Region and West Coast regions, respectively.
