News
- HHS designated two more QHINs: CommonWell Health Alliance and Kno2. This brings the total number of approved QHINs to seven.
- eHealth Exchange is launching an incentive program that will waive annual fees for three years to the first five HIEs or state/local public health agencies that agree to exchange public health data.
Studies
- Among people receiving medical care in the last 12 months, 86% engaged with their providers using mobile devices, according to a Gozio Health survey. Additionally, 89% of patients said the ability to manage their health in a single platform is as least somewhat important.
- A report from KLAS Research and UPMC’s Center for Connected Medicine found only 16% of health systems have a governance policy in place for the use of AI. Tellingly, 70% of orgs with plans to deploy AI intend to adopt solutions via their EHR vendors.
- To support 2024 business objectives, 62% of health plans are investing in technology for digital transformation, according to a HealthEdge survey.
- More than 10% of hospital staff face threats of violence, according to research from Canopy. About 40% of threats originate in the ED. Surprisingly, threats are less common on weekends and holidays, when hospitals tend to be busier.
- Research from iCIMS showed organizations are getting 2x as many applications for non-clinical job openings (an average of 32) than clinical job openings (16).

- Akash Network is partnering with Solve.Care to offer medical image storage on a blockchain-based cloud.
- Kentucky-based Appalachian Regional Healthcare joined KHATCH, the I-PASS Kentucky Hospital Association Transitions and Communication in Hospitals Program.
- CloudWave is partnering with USI Insurance Services to provide cybersecurity and IT services for its PrivaSafe service.
Product and Company News
- A survey from Zocdoc found 57% of patients show up to medical appointments only to discover the physician isn’t a fit for their medical needs, while 24% of physicians say they see new patients who don’t fit their medical expertise. The research accompanied the release of Zocdoc’s Guided Search feature.
- PointClickCare released Pharmacy Connect, a medication management tool for care teams in senior living communities. In addition, precision medicine vendor SinguLab expanded its integration with PointClickCare.
- DeepScribe announced its Trust and Safety Suite to help ensure accuracy and transparency of AI-powered medical documentation.
- CipherHealth released Self Service Rounding, which allows patients to self-report issues and feedback.
- Peer-reviewed research from Linus Health showed digital cognitive assessment tools outperform paper-based screenings in detecting early mild cognitive impairment and dementia.
- Osso VR debuted Hand Control, a controller-free feature for its surgical training offering.
- Proscia received FDA 510(k) clearance for Concentriq AP-Dx, its diagnostic software for pathology.
- Meridian Analytics rebranded as Discern Health.

- WellSpan Health chose KeyCare as its partner in expanding into virtual primary care and behavioral health services.
- Virginia-based Riverside Health System deployed Upfront Healthcare to support patient journeys in total hip and knee replacement.
- University Hospital Basel is implementing MDClone‘s ADAMS Platform for synthetic data creation and research analytics.
Awards and Recognitions
- Digital Health New York released its annual NY Digital Health 100 list of leading startups in the New York area.
- Saudi Arabia-based nonprofit Hevolution Foundation announced 49 awards totaling $115 million under its Geroscience Research Opportunities program.
- Operating room digitization platform Proximie was chosen for the AWS Health Equity Initiative.
People
- EHR and RCM vendor ModMed appointed Joe Harpaz as Co-CEO.
- Benefits data management vendor Noyo made two executive appointments: Elaina O’Mahoney as Chief Product Officer and Peter Scarlatta as Chief Technology Officer.
- Risk-bearing provider enablement platform Vytalize Health named Michael Ruiz De Somocurcio as President of the Independent Physician Association of New York.
- The Health Care Payment Learning & Action Network welcomed Natalie Davis to the Accountable Care Action Collaborative; Davis is CEO of United States of Care.
- Workforce management technology company Hallmark Health Care Solutions appointed Patrick T. Ryan as non-executive Chairman of its Board of Directors.
