News from Capitol Hill
- In a blog post, HHS Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy Micky Tripathi said behavior and not technology “is far and away the biggest impediment to progress” when it comes to information blocking. He detailed how API users are facing onerous fees, incomplete documentation, and general difficulty connecting with providers.
- Another ASTP/ONC post found only 20% of HIE organizations are using HL7 FHIR APIs to send and receive data. About 90% still use a mix of CDAs, HL7 v2 messages, and ADT transfers.
Studies
- The third annual Compass Survey from symplr found 85% of clinicians waste more than an hour each day on administrative tasks. Meanwhile, 80% of IT leaders said they are due to consolidate IT solutions.
- Sobering research from Proofpoint and the Ponemon Institute found 82% of healthcare organizations hit with a cyberattack experience a disruption to patient care.
- A survey from the Peterson Health Technology Institute found 86% of providers plan to maintain or increase their level of digital health spending in 2025. Half said cost savings were the main priority for investment.
- A survey from VR training vendor UbiSim found 89% of nurses with access to VR training said it helped them better prepare for real-world scenarios in healthcare settings.
Partnerships
- Patient outreach vendor Phreesia and the Ad Council launched three public health campaigns about mental health and have delivered 430,000 messages to patients and caregivers so far.
- GE HealthCare is integrating Blackford Analysis AI-enabled decision support into its into True PACS and Centricity PACS products.
- Patient data access vendor Selfii selected MedAllies as its QHIN partner.
Products
- Microsoft expanded the capabilities of Microsoft Cloud for Healthcare, with highlights including ambient documentation specifically for nursing workflows and access to SDoH and CMS data sets through Microsoft Fabric.
- Care access platform Kyruus Health launched Reach to help hospitals maintain accurate listings information across digital platforms.
- Behavioral health technology vendor Kipu Health released Kipu Intelligence Program, a clinical and administrative workflow tool using AWS generative AI capabilities.
- Analytics vendor Clarify Health launched the Clarify Performance IQ Suite for cost, quality, and utilization assessment. In addition, the company announced a rebrand.
- Growth.Health launched the G1 Healthcare Data and Analytics Platform for marketers and data analysts.
Sales
- Connecticut-based Griffin Health selected Vyne Medical to help capture, manage, and distribute voice recordings and faxes.
- UMass Memorial Health – Harrington selected Brook Health to support its home-based remote monitoring program for patients with congestive hart failure. The program saw a 50% reduction in 30-day readmissions.
- RLDatix expanded its partnership with USA Health, the health system for the University of South Alabama, to provide the system with greater access to operational data.
Company News
- Acute virtual care vendor AvaSure announced its 8th annual AvaPrize awards, recognizing eight institutions for excellence in virtual care.
- Darena Solutions received certification under the ONC Health IT Certification Program from Drummond Group for MeldRx, its FHIR-based healthcare data platform for decision support.
- Research from Twin Health showed the company’s digital twin technology helped patients achieve higher rates of normalized blood pressure after one year.
People
- Greenway Health appointed Paul Ford as Chief Information Security Officer.
- Microsegmentation vendor ColorTokens appointed Chuck Suitor to its Board of Directors; he’s the recently retired CTO at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
