- The law firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan will defend Health Gorilla in its lawsuit against Epic. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because the same firm is representing CureIS and Particle Health in their lawsuits against Epic.
- ASTP/ONC released an RFI on access, exchange, and use of diagnostic images, with comments for March 16.
Studies
- Research from Arkansas State University found that 25% of nurses rely on AI tools in clinical care every day – but 64% wouldn’t feel legally protected if an AI tool caused patient harm.
- Only 17% of patients rely on manual methods of managing medications, according to a Surescripts survey, with 59% saying they use one or more apps.
- Only 15% of health systems have fully deployed fully deployed AI or ML use cases for pharmacy demand forecasting, inventory
optimization, drug shortage prediction, or risk modeling, according to a Tecsys report. - More than 35% of adults who use AI chatbots for mental health support do it because of fear of judgment or social stigma, according to a Cognitive FX survey.
Partnerships
- Altera Digital Health partnered with TRUE-See to develop Sunrise Medical Photography, a suite of documentation tools that produces color-calibrated medical photos and videos.
- athenahealth selected Suki as its preferred partner for ambient AI. In addition, Humana senior-focused primary care subsidiary CenterWell implemented athenaOne.
- Autism and IDD care company CentralReach named Rain a preferred partner for employee payroll and financial wellness.
- Innovaccer partnered with Coforge to launch G-Forge, a joint initiative designed to help healthcare organizations integrate data and scale AI initiatives.
- Iterate.ai and TD SYNNEX launched Generate for Healthcare to help hospital systems to identify and recover unpaid and underpaid insurance claims; it’s hosted on HPE infrastructure.
Products
- Included Health introduced a health plan design that supports care coordination with AI-powered engagement, transparent pricing, and clinical support.
- Intelliworx added generative AI to Healthcare Workforce Management, its healthcare recruiting platform, to help recruiters draft job descriptions.
- Oracle announced the Oracle Life Sciences AI Data Platform to help medical device and life sciences organizations speed up research.
- Silna launched Predictive Document Intelligence, which aims to prevent denials and care delays before prior authorizations are filed.
Implementations
- Louisiana-based Beauregard Health System selected Artera (communication) and DrFirst (medication management) patient engagement technology to integrate with MEDITECH Expanse. In other news, DrFirst remembered Dr. Thomas E. Sullivan, who served as Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Privacy Officer from 2004 to 2022, and later as a Senior Advisor, until his passing on January 19.
- UCI Health implemented Get Well, the patient engagement platform from GW RhythmX, at its newly opened hospital campus in Irvine, California.
- NYU Langone Health selected Isaac Health as its telehealth provider for brain health and dementia care within its neurology program.

- Research from Eko Health demonstrated increased detection of heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and valvular heart disease using AI stethoscope examination versus standard practices over 12 months.
- Prenatal ultrasound software maker Sonio received HITRUST e1 Certification for its platform residing at Amazon Web Services (AWS); the company also successfully completed its SOC Type 2 Audit.

- RCM consultancy and technology company HURC appointed Kevin Coloton as CEO.
- Value-based kidney care company Interwell Health named Dr. Carney Taylor as Chief Medical Officer.
