- At the annual AHIP conference, health plans representing 257 million Americans committed to streamline, simplify and reduce prior authorization. Commitments include implementing standardized, electronic prior auth; honoring existing prior auth when patients change insurers, and aiming for a real-time response rate of 80% by 2027.
- Britain’s Sky News reported the June 2024 death of a patient at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is directly attributable to a cyberattack that hit NHS and led to delayed blood test results.
Studies
- A Smart Communications survey found 54% of consumers would value AI being used to make health recommendations.
- Meanwhile, ModMed found 57% of patients support the use of AI in the exam room if it means more face time with their doctor.
- A LeanTaaS report found 54% of cancer centers said they’d benefit from AI to improve scheduling and capacity management.
- A recent Rackspace Technology report found 63% of healthcare IT professionals believe AI answers always need human interpretation. Half say the accuracy of AI answers require much improvement before they can be trusted.
- Metabolic tests cost six times as much at hospital outpatient labs than independent labs, according to the latest annual report from Avalon Healthcare Solutions.
- More than 70% of home care agencies said compliance is a top business priority, according to a recent HHAeXchange survey.

- AdvancedMD added NGA Healthcare to its partner integration marketplace to help independent medical practices optimize payer contracts and streamline the credentialing process.
- Pulmonary care provider Nimbus Health is partnering with Century Health to develop real-world datasets for serious respiratory diseases
- Nordic and Clearsense are collaborating to help health systems address application portfolio management needs.
- Salesforce expanded its partnership with Infinitus, maker of a voice AI platform.
- RCM and data exchange vendor Vyne Dental is now using APIs from Open Dental Software, a practice management vendor.

- Altera Digital Health launched Sunrise CarePath, a mobile patient engagement platform integrated with its Sunrise EHR.
- Berry Fertility launched Smart Compose, an AI agent to support patient communications.
- CodaMetrix launched CMX CARE, a contextual medical coding automation platform that also includes a new ED coding automation module.
- FinThrive launched Denials and Underpayments Analyzer to help providers enhance financial recoveries.
- Janus Health launched JanusIQ to give health systems greater insight into RCM performance.
- Ushur launched Ushur Intelligence, which helps healthcare organizations (and companies in other highly regulated verticals) deploy AI agents.
Implementations
- South Carolina’s Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System selected 2bPrecise to support genomics and precision care.
- Georgia-based Emory Healthcare selected Aidin to support transitions into post-acute care.
- California’s Sutter Health is embedding Aidoc into its clinical systems to aid in earlier identification of critical findings. Sutter Health will also serve as Aidoc’s premier West Coast hub for clinical AI innovation.
- Idaho-based St. Luke’s Health System deployed Ambience Healthcare enterprise-wide and saw a 41% reduction in active documentation time. Additionally, St. Luke’s launched Patient Recap from Ambience, the company’s new product for pre-visit chart summaries.
- Brazil’s A.C. Camargo Cancer Center chose Axis Communications for video surveillance.
- Virginia-based Fortify Children’s Health selected Oracle Health Data Intelligence to manage value-based care contract performance.
- Indiana’s Methodist Hospitals selected Philips to support image-guided therapy in oncology and heart health.

- Experience and insights technology vendor mPulse announced keynote speakers for Activate2025, which takes place September 23-24 in Austin.
- NPHub secured a $20 million growth investment; the company matches nurses with clinical rotation and job placements.
- NuraLogix received ISO 13485:2016 quality management certification for manufacturing and distributing software as a medical device.
People
- At its annual conference, HFMA announced Kiran Batheja as National Chair and recognized Intermountain Healthcare’s Dan Liljenquist with its highest achievement award.
- Operations software vendor symplr appointed Theresa Meadows as Chief Information Officer in Residence.
- Communications management software maker Messagepoint named Jen Trewick as Director of Strategic Customer Programs and Business Development for Healthcare.
- Clinical data platform Evidently named Chris Cowart as Head of Growth.
- DirectTrust elected three new members to its Board of Directors and appointed three new board officers.
